Does anyone know what causes this and if so, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this happen. It happens at different times normally between 8:30-11:00 PM at least that was when I normally would walk by these lights.

I've had this happen to me often enough for me to notice it. It happens at random times as I walk by street lights. Also, it doesn't happen according to a timer; I've had it happen to me as early as 8 p.m. and as late as 5 a.m. and all hours in between. Frankley I'm happy that I'm not the only one it happens to.

I've heard of a psychic expanation for it. However, I'm inclined to believer there may be a scientific reason. The weird thing, though, is that it will happen for some people all the time and for others none of the time. My wife has noticed it when we take walks together after dark, but never when she's by herself.

And why does everyone keep talking about timers when the post said it happens at random times? I get frustrated when I try to tell people about this. All they ever reply with is that it must be timers. This happens at all hours of the night.

It happens to me also. In different places at different times. Sometimes the same light a year later. Weird but true. The lights are on timers for dusk and dawn but not at 1:00 am.

Yes! This happens to me all the time....except I'm always driving when it happens....this has been happening to me for years now, and I often wondered if it was just my imagination. Doesn't seem to be related to any particular time frame, except that it's dark, of course. What the cause of it is, I don't know. I've mentioned it to some people, who look at me like I have 3 heads..others have suggested perhaps it's energy that I give off. I don't know what it is, all I know is it does happen.

Yes, this happens to me all the time, for years and years, and I searched around for info about it last year. I can't recall the name or anything but it does have to do with electricity or something magnetic within our bodies. Something like that anyway. Have you also noticed that it's useless to buy a watch because everytime you do they die within a week or two? It's related to the same thing. Also, my daughter and a couple of my friends don't like me around their computers because sometimes for some reason when I get around them the computers slow waaaay down or sometimes shut off on their own for no reason. Does this ring a bell also?

Weird stuff. Now I'll have to look into it again. :o)

This happens with an LDR when the sun goes down or rises thatn the change in light gives a change in resistance in the circuit putting the light on or off.

And if you leave school always at the same time that the sun goes down then its not a coincidence

Is it always the same time at night? It could be they're on a timer, and it could be that they have a brief outage period every so often to keep them from overheating and blowing the bulbs permanently.

The lights in my neighborhood are staggered - only one is off at a time.

Yes! I have a friend who noticed that, too, when he went by street lights.

Wish I could do that! At least once in awhile cause' there is too much light pollution.

We used to have bats in town, and now we just have light pollution.

They have sensors that tell it, it is getting dark, turn on, and tell it, it is getting light shut off.
