I actually think it has increased them!

Digital radio gives a greater opportunity to hear something which you've never heard before, which may inspire you to find more from the same artist/composer.

However I do think that the nature of music collections is changing. People are now downloading and storing music on computers and MP3 players, rather than buying cds.

No - but the increase in choice of stations probably means your music collection will also increase in breadth. There are many DAB Digital Radio channels which play songs you can't normally hear on an FM radio - everything from jazz to classic rock and more.

Just because there is an increase in the number of radio stations doesn't make your records obsolete, your music taste defines you and if you believe your collection to be obsolete then you lose a little bit of yourself.

I understand what you're saying but the music collection will never be obsolete.

I still have LPs and 45 in their jackets 8 tracks and cassettes, and well as Cds. I like to look at them, and I play them. When people come over they admire them.

NO. I don't like every song on the radio, or even half.
I love rap music but I like less than half of it, so even when I listen to the "rap" station I still don't like most of the songs, when I make a playlist at home I love all the music.

No. The beauty of having your own music collection is that you can listen to what you want to, when you want to.
