The directions on a concentrated cleaner state that 3 tablespoons of concentrate make 345 ounces of cleaning fluid. How many ounces of cleaning fluid will 2 tablespoons of cleaner make?

And this question as well,

A small business jet took 1 hour longer to fly 810 miles on the first part of a flight than to fly 540 miles on the 2nd portion. If the jet's rate was the same for each leg of the flight, what was the flying time for each leg? To solve this problem, set up two expressions for the jet's rate (using r = d/t), where the unknown quantity is t. Then, set the two rate expressions equal to each other, since the problem states that the rates are the same during each leg.

1)3 tablespoons make 345 oz
2 tablespoons make x oz
We got to find x,take it into the ratio
3:345=2:x
i.e.,3/345=2/x
3x=2*345
3x=690
x=230
so 2 tablespoons make 230 oz

2)During the second leg the jet took 2 hours to fly 540 miles,so in the second leg its rate was 270mph
During the first leg the jet took 3 hours to fly 810 miles,so the rate is again 270
for the first leg
t1=810/270=3 hours(First leg)
t2=540/270=2 hours(second leg)

1. All that we have to do is set up 2 ratios.

3/345 = 2/x
Cross multiply to get
2*345=3x
Now, divide each side by 3 and
x=230

2. Let's seperate the two like you said.

1st leg:
r= d/t
r = 810/(t+1) (The total time is t+1 because it took an hour longer for this leg).

2nd leg:
r= 540/t

Set them equal to each other.

810/(t+1)=540/t
Cross multiply
810t=540t+540
270t=540
t=2

Now, we have to find the time for each leg. The second leg=t, so the second leg's time is 2 hours. The first leg's time is t+1, so the first leg's time is 3 hours.

I hope that this helps.

Concentrated cleaner:
345/3 = 115
115 * 2 = 230
