Probably because I email my House of Representatives member, Bart Stupak, regularly for many issues, I've been invited to a town hall meeting in 9 days. Having just watched an Inconvenient Truth with my daughter, I realized once again that all other issues are secondary to having a "playground" where all our human dramas are played out. Therefore, I'd like to make the most of this opportunity to move the agenda of changing policy regarding the US contribution of the staggering CO2 levels we produce. What should I say, if I have an opportunity to speak? Should I push for re-attaching the US signature on Kyoto? Or is there something else more important? I could not think of a better civics lesson for my "tween" daughter than showing her how to step up to the plate and press for civic accountability of our leaders.

"Global Warming" is pure and simple..."JUNK SCIENCE"

The biggest barrier to raising the issue is that the Republican party thinks "Global Warming" is just some moral ploy used by the Left.
You need to stress that it's not an issue of ideology, it's a matter of scientific fact. Then again, "science" is also a ploy used by the Left, so you may have some difficulty there.

One step you may be able to take is to petition your city to ratify adopt the Kyoto treaty. Many cities (as you've seen in the movie) have adopted it independent of the US, it's a small step but also a valuable lesson to show that you can make a difference in the political machine.

Global warming, for whatever reason it exists is totally out of human control, but there are those special interest groups (liberal control freaks) that want to "guide" us in their political direction using fear and misinformation. The “Staggering” levels WE produce are a total fiction, when compared to the natural cyclic production of atmospheric Co2. Some of the methods our government granted students are using to create their daily “staggering” levels, are very carefully collected near freshly fertilized crops, active volcano’s and rain forests (surprise?).
….. Global warming IS happening, a given, but not for the reasons our leftist liberal science sources, politicians and press are reporting. Only 18 percent of the "new" Co2 in the atmosphere is contributed by all man made sources including the overall world consumption of fossil fuel, livestock (and human) fluctuation and crop fertilization. The majority of scientific studies are now discounting Carbon Dioxide emitted by motor vehicles (burning of fossil fuels) as any MAJOR cause. Geological history (through ice core samples) indicates natural solar cycles are the culprit, something politicians have no power over so they ignore. The real short-term danger is in fact a buildup of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, but not Co2. The real culprit is Methane, a far more potent greenhouse gas, being released into the atmosphere by the decay of Methane Hydrate occurring naturally frozen on the ocean floors, due to the gradual (natural) warming of ocean water by the (natural) solar cycle. Another item our politicians have no control over and the liberal media will never mention. Follow the money trail... They promote revenue and power by promoting fear. "We just have to do SOMETHING...You know"? So they continue to promote cars as the culprit. If we reduce world fossil fuel consumption by 10% it would have absolutely no effect on climate change, and the world would be plunged into economic chaos.
At your town hall meeting, how about demand to know, now that all the figures are in (whether fictitious or not), Just what IS the long range plan to lower Co2 and what will be the long range economic effects? How much you want to bet “we need more revenue for more study” will be a very close approximation of the answer to that one?

First of all walk there and before you go, get the facts on Kyoto. India and China are exempt. Let's see China has 1.6 billion people and India 1.3. Add that up and 2.9 billion or about half the world's 6 billion population that don't have to do a thing to help reverse the cycle. I say everyone has to do something. Yes, I understand we have done quite a bit of damage, but everyone on the Earth has to help.
