You cant drag and drop music on iTunes.
Follow the steps below:
1. Go to 'add files to library' under file menu.
2. Choose the location where the file is and then select it.
3. Say add.
4. The song is now in the iTunes library.

If you want to add the music to your iPod: Connect your iPod to your computer. Then drag and drop the song from iTunes library to your iPod icon which would be the last icon of the left hand side of the screen.
Good luck!

No drag and drop with the iPod, yet you are able to set it to manually take care of data by using iTunes. Technically, if automobile-sync is off, you are able to delete the data out of your workstation as quickly as they are synced on your iPod.
