Mars has two polar ice caps, one of water-ice and the other of frozen carbon dioxide.

It's an ice cap. Not much of one, granted, but that's what it is until and unless physical examination at a later date proves it to be something besides H2O ice.

IT'S ICE, but the ice isn't made of H2O but CO2 and other chemical compounds
