I need a topic or author that is not American and occured between renaissance times and now. I need to use 4 prose exerpts and 4 poems on the topic or from the author- depending upon which of the 2 is my topic. Any ideas would be appreciated--

As for poets, Keats, Byron, and Shelley all led fascinating lives. Samuel Taylor Coleridge had a persistent drug problem--that could be interesting.
All of them were British.
Other interesting topics might be "The Role of Women in Victorian Society," "Child Labor During the Industrial Revolution in England," "The Impact of WWI on Writers and Artists."

William Shakespeare, Nicolaus Copernicus, Leonardo Da Vinci, Isaac Newton, Johannes Gutenberg, Michelangelo, and Galileo Galilei we're all in the Renaissance. I don't think any of them were American.
