does that mean next year (and the years there after) is also going to be a national holiday? Boy, bush sure is trying to get his bushy( I mean brownie) points in. I have been trying to find out about my son over in Iraq (and can't get anywhere with that,)trying to even find out how to write him and where because I haven't heard from him in over two years, I'm really worried. These holidays make it hard to get anything done with everything being closed(sorry, I'm just a worried mom).

Think it was just for this year.
As far as getting touch with your son, if he is in the military you should be able to find out where he is and his address by contacting his unit. You could try to call the installation he is based out of in the US and ask them for the number to the unit. Somebody there should be able to give you the info you need.

Hope it helps.

The National Day of Mourning for former President Ford is a onetomr thing. We had one for Reagan when he died - and the same for Nixon. All Federal employees get a day off (which I don't necessarily agree with).

There hould be as number of places to find out about the whereabouts of your son. I find I get my best resuts by contacting my loca Congressman's office. They have a staff of people who are there to help you with your dealings with the government. Agencies respond quicker when dealing with a Congressional request. Good Luck.

Every branch has an Emergency contact service the Army is: http://www.army.com/emergency_contact.html - if it's not a family emergency try the USO: http://www.uso.org/whatwedo/specialprograms/. You can also contact your local VFW for help in locating someone on active duty. Good Luck and my heart goes out to you.

Our government (109th not 110th) made Jan. 2 be a national day of mourning. This is so stupid. I respect Ford and all but definitely he should be incorporated into President's Day just as all the rest.
Oh, and I am sure you will be able to write to him soon. Keep hope. I am sure everything is alright.
