Doing 501 with five darts cannot be accomplished however John Lowe achieved the first with nine darts.

On the 13th of October 1984 in the quarter-finals of the MFI World Matchplay Championship against Keith Deller he achieved the feat and received £100,000 from the sponsors.

Scorpio is correct as 9 darts is the best you can do in a 501 match. Example is triple 20, triple 20, triple 20, triple 20, triple 20, triple 20, triple 20. triple 19 leaving double 12 for the out and match. John Lowe was the first to accomplish this on television.

Nine is the lowest you can do.

180+180+141.

As many other answers have said some of the big named players have successfully completed this finish on tv.

I would like to witness the following.....

167+167+167 with a bull finish! (Thats Flash!)

Hope this helps your quest.
