I know what it is in the literal sense but what is it really?
When people die, other people often think of them in different ways. What if you think of them exactly as though they were still alive? How do you percieve death?

the process of liberation of the spirit from the material body. After death, the spirit preserves its individuality, that is, all the psychological features that characterized it as the living person before. It is important to emphasize that death starts with the ending of physical process in the material body and not as an initiative of the spirit.

Death is either the cessation of life in a living organism or the state of the organism after that event. In all societies (almost) some symbol represents death in general. Common symbols of death in Western cultures include the grim reaper and the color black; conversely, in certain Eastern cultures, the color white is considered symbolic of death. The grave is a metonym for death.

Death is when the body stops working, cannot be repaired and the I, the soul, the spirit, however you want to call it, the YOU, leaves the body to reincarnate in another body having some level of forgetting of the earlier existence which can fully be recalled again.
This is what we have been doing for a longer period of time than you can even imagine.

Death is a beginning, not an end. I believe in the afterlife. I lost four people in 2006 so, I've had a lot of time to think about this. I am still mourning the loss of those that I love. I know that I will one day be reunited with them.

I believe what the Bible says about death. I understand it to say that if you've accepted Jesus Christ then you have eternal life. So those people go on living; they never really die.

For those who have not accepted Jesus Christ, the Bible talks about a second death. I understand that to mean that after their body dies, that their soul will also die. They cease to exist.

To me, death is the apparently permanent loss of individual consciousness, either never to be regained or to be returned (reincarnation) in substantially different form--depending on your beliefs.

On a pmore personal level, I have pictures of my deceased mother in the house, not to mention Aunt Alice's kitchen table and several other artifacts from deceased relatives. In many ways I feel the presence of one relative or another--not actually--but imagined with memories integrated into my current activities.

In significant ways, our lives incorporate the spirit and meaning they manifested in their days and death becomes a door they one day walked through that lends a real mystery to life.

Death is loss of consciousness and the body they possessed to accomplish the worldly tasks. Once they die they are lost in this infinite universe which is beyond our perception.

I believe that death is when you loose your soul. The Bible says that our souls are dead, but when we accept Him and believe in Him we are alive in Him as well. I believe that when we die our physical bodies die but our souls go either to heaven (if we belive in Christ) or to hell (if we do not believe).
