some characters in naruto looks like girls but are actually boys what is up with that?

You're probably talking about Haku. Haku will always be a girl to me because I can't see a boy looking like that.
Aside from that, I think the boys with long hair, sasuke for example, might confuse you.

Just, if you look at people today we can tell them apart, but this is anime, a style of drawing.
So it might be to confuse you, or just because what we normally classify a girl with (earrings, long hair, pale skin. etc..) you may find some traits in boys like that.

Yeah, I guess anime writers like to twist genders. Sasuke does not look at all like a girl so if you think that...you're retarded. haku is another story.

well...even in real life sometimes we can't really say what someone is unles we are told, and in anime it's kinda hard to reveal those situations, so they quit and just make them look exactly like a girl..that's anime

yep....it's just how anime is....guys have really long hair and look like girls at times.....but you got to just get used to it....haha
