I need to know so i can see if i can hook my nintendo wii up.

If you have a internet router, you can plug into one of its Ethernet slots. Its another name for a network.

If you don't have a router, you can't connect your wii directly into your phone socket as far as i know.

Technically speaking, no. Generally speaking, yes. A cable modem generally has one ethernet or RJ-45 port to connect to a computer. You can connect your Nintendo Wii directly to your cable modem or DSL modem. If you want to use the computer and Nintendo Wii at the same time, then you will need to purchase a cable router. Cable routers can be purchased at any electronic store.

You cannot connect your wii to your phone outlet. The other guy doesn't know what he is talking about. You cannot get an internet service directly from a phone outlet, unless the receiving device as an old fashion phone modem

ethernet is just a port in the back of your computer that a cable plugs in to from a modem/router/switch/or hub to get high-speed internet
