I'd say no because we are asking the question. When in doubt between life and death, I say err on the side of life.

Forgiveness would have made more of an impact and example to the people we are trying to influence and give justice to. I guess it was Iraq's choice, but if it were up to me, I'd give him life and send in the shrinks and pastors.
Only God can take life since he gave it and he knows when it's time and where people are going.

Yes,the hanging of Saddam was justified by the evil acts he did
as President of Iraq. The use of chemical weapons on the Kurds
warrants death on it's own,not even bringing into account the thousands of Iraqis who died by his orders during his time in power.

Just the same,by making him a martyr Iraq has moved a giant
step forward toward open, undisputed civil war.

I don't think they should have done it right away. It was a bad idea, like going food shopping when you're hungry. Most people would have predicted exactly what would happen, the appearance of one dictatorship being traded for another.

He should have stayed in prison until there was truly some kind of consensus among Iraqis. Which means he might have died in prison. Doing the right thing may not be as satisfying as doing the immediate thing but it has more far-reaching benefits.

I dont think so. There is no rule and law in the World that can take human soul and his life. Man can feel guilty and learn about the consequences if he is steel alive. This is a big mistake for the humanity and for the Iraq people. They didnt kill Sadam they only proved his greatness .He was already sick and he will be known in the History like strong person like many others that are killed by the crool politic and law but we all know that he doesnt diserve that.

Yeah but it was way too easy. He deserved to be tortured to death as he did to so many others. This trial was started over a year and a half and they just hung him now? They should have tortured him on the first day of the trial. I don't know but I believe that they had all the evidence they needed from the words,"killed thousands of Iraqis" which I don't know why the US government still had to think about it and extend the trial. The trial was quite obvious that Hussein should have died. Why did they have to think about it for over a year. He was partially involved with 9/11!

In my opinion the hanging was justified, i also think the he got off to easy. He really should have been tortured slowly, and made to squirm and be in anguish for a while before he died. For what he did to his own people thats what he should get. I am not going to delve into what the USA thinks he did to us other than hating us, because that is a very touchy subject, but in my opinion he did need to be killed, i would have only changed how.

Better yet, can you tell me why is what not justified? He murdered hundreds of thousands in cold blood, before and during his rule. He was a career criminal. The Iraqi courts tried, convicted, and executed him for those reasons. To me, he did get off easy. He should have recieved the same torturous treatment he dished out, then executed.

Well the trial was a circus and the ensuing execution was little more than a lynching so draw your own conclusions. And if Saddam ,then why not Blair and Bush?

he was directly responsible for the deaths of several hundred thousand people, both in his own country, and in others. he only got punished for a fraction of those he had murdered, tortured, gassed, blew up,etc, not to mention the huge environmental disasters he had started in kuwaiti oil field fires. was he hanged for all that? no. just for the deaths of a few hundred. he earned every jerk on the rope he swung from. unforetunately, he died quickly, and relatively pain free. it could have been much worse if they had decided to make it so.

Yes he was trialed by the court, but the way he was hanged, it shows the mockery of whole system in Iraq.
