tough call. i'd say the first one is the better movie, b/c for some reason, i can watch it again and again straight through. i can't say the same about the 2nd one, some of the scenes get really boring for me, like when shrek goes to see the fairy godmother at her factory or when the king is hiring puss in boots at that pub. i will give the second one the greatest scenes nod, though. when they're getting arrested and they find the catnip on boots and he says "that's not mine" is a classic, as is the entire castle siege scene with the giant gingerbread man with holding out for a hero playing in the background. hm. maybe i do like the 2nd one more......

I liked Shrek. It was a little twist of a fairytale and the characters were fresh. Shrek 2 used the characters to tell an all to familiar story, parents not liking the new in law.

they both have a unique way to make you laugh but if i go for one i should say the first one.
its the one that everybody fall in love w/ the coolest ogre . and dont forget the donkey 2.
