Sweetie, first you need to calm down.If you concentrate on relaxing, your not relaxed.Just let yourself relax, and relax the muscles in the vagina.Make sure that you are aiming towards your back, that is where it needs to be placed.Someone suggested vaseline, dont you dare. That is oil based and if you are going to use some lubricant you need to make sure it is a water base, maybe some ky or something.Make sure it is moist enough,if not you will need that lubricant i mentioned above. Some find it a bit easier to raise one leg,(such as placing one leg upon the toliet while inserting it). This may work for you until you get the hang of it.We all have had the same issues and problems, nearly every female has.No one gets it perfect on the first try,but you will get the hang of it.Dont give up,be persistant, once a tampon is in you should not feel it.When you purchase a box of tampons in the box is a folded paper. This gives you information you need to know. The first couple times you try i would suggest wearing a pad as a back up just in case.
Having said that,i am going to suggest you go and speak to your mother.I know you may feel a little embarassed, but dont. She has been exactly where you are,and she can help you more than you know. She understands, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.If you speak to your mother about this, you can speak to her about anything. This only opens up a door for you two to communicate. Not only will that door be open now,and about situations like this, but other situations throughout your teen years and into adulthood.Good luck hun, have a good evening.

I am absolutely shocked at a couple of these answers.Dont try a different angle, just make sure you are aiming toward the small of your back.Tampons are not cardboard or plastic, the applicators are. They do not stay in,just the tampon.Plastica applicators may be a little easier for you,but there isnt anything wrong with either.

That happened to me at first so I was stuck with pads for years. Basically, everything (inside and out) has to be really slippery. When you feel like you hit some sort of wall, you have to change the angle of the end of the tampon that's inside you already. Tilt it down, so you're aiming more toward your lower back. Sometimes you have to push a little harder then you think you should too. There's a lot of room in there, you'd be surprised how far those things go in. You're not hitting 'the end', it's just a curved spot inside your body. That's all I can think of. I tried about 10 different times over a few years before I finally figured it out.

If you are a teenage girl it's probable that you're not yet comfortable with your intimacy. Thus, your vagina is a bit tight probably because of an unconscious psychological reluctance when you try to insert something. Take it easy. Tampons are not the only solution there. They're not the symbols of feminity that Tampax or Kotex try to convince us of. I'm nearly 30 and I gave up tampons forever a few months ago after I discovered that they are so unhealthy. I'd rather stick to the pads if I were you both because you don't seem ready for tampons and because there are healthy alternatives to tampons out there.

If you have never had sexual intercourse, your hymen may still be intact. This could prevent you from inserting the tampon all the way. Most females have a small perforation in their hymen due to exercise or masturbation, which allows for the passage of blood and discharge. Some have no hymen at all. Be sure to insert the tampon towards your back. You can't insert a tampon too far into your vagina, it will be stopped by your cervix.

Your vaginal wall is slightly slanted towards your spine, so when you insert you need to tilt it a bit. You may also want to use some lub and relax, try a new position, one leg prop.

Try putting some vaseline on the tip of it and down the sides to see if this will help. Your not wet and slippery enough when you are using them.

Use a different angle and use plastic tampons, not cardboard.
