I believe the last great President was John F. Kennedy. He asked us what we could do for our country, and set us on the course that saw humanity on the moon.

We've had some good men in the White House in the 43 years since his death, but Kennedy stands head and shoulders above everyone who has been in office since his death.

Do you mean great, or just good? Bill Clinton was the last GOOD president we had. Franklin Roosevelt was the last GREAT one we had. Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson were all good, but not great. Nixon, Carter, Ford and Bush I were somewhere between bad and good. Greatness is a label which can be bestowed up a very select few.

In reverse order, during my lifetime:

Bill Clinton (First budgetary surplus in 4 decades, low inflation, & managing the Balkan War.) (But he was a dog in other areas.) (Ultimate "Trailer Trash to Oval Office story ever. Proves than ANYONE can rise to ANY station that they aspire to in America.)

Ronald Reagan (For the death of communism and ending the Cold War) (But he ran the economy into the toilet with the worst inflation since before the Great Depression)

JFK (Made everyone proud to be an American & defusing the Cuban Missile Crisis) (But, The Bay of Pigs was a disaster, and he was a Clintonesque dog as well -- or should we say that Clinton was a Kennedyesque dog...?)

Ike (Managed the early days of the Cold War & kept the Soviet Union in check.)

Honorable Mention -- less than great, but did something noteworthy:

Bush Sr (for kicking SH out of Kuwait) (But blew it on the economy)

Jimmy Carter (for brokering the peace accord between Israel & Egypt) (But wimped out over the Iran Hostage Crisis.)

Gerald Ford (for healing the wounds of Nixon & Watergate)

I would have to go with Ronald Reagan. He was able to bring together the parties on more issues than any modern day president. He inspired a feeling a hope in society, rekindling the belief that we can be the greatest country on earth. He wasn't perfect, but he was a true leader.

Ronald Reagan. He was compassionate and effective. He wasn't bought out by big business like someone else I won't mention. He was a man of dignity.

I think it was Harry Truman, he took the bull by the horns and did what had to be done, and that was the last war we were in that we won.
