a scientific theory is a prediction or a logical thought that can be proven with facts. actually its more of an unproven prediction.
the astronomy's big bang theory. it says that the universe was created by a chemical reaction. its not a model or a law because its not a visual or a representive of something and its not been proven yet. when it becomes proven...it becomes a law. but its a theory because it hasnt been proven yet. but its logical.

scientific theory is that which, when proven becomes a law.
example string theory, the universe is composed of vibrating strings interacting in some kind of harmony, just like an orchestra. maybe like a string quartet
unfortunately I think it posits some 10 dimensions
at least that's how I would view it

A logical idea that appears to meet all points of contention but without proof from a practical standpoint.
