Probably because although they like to believe they are kind and open minded, they can't really stand anyone that thinks differently than their talking points tell them to think. Thus they have no choice but to be mean and malicious towards people when they realize they have no logical arguments or solutions to societies percieved problems.

Oh and I am a Liberal. and I am a Christian. I am NOT evil. I have been saved by God. I have very Good Morals thank you very much. you know if you so called perfect Republicans would Just stop looking at everyone who does not think like you as evil. maybe then we can all get along. after all is that not what Jesus tells us to do? Because they're evil. They have no morals and have let evil seep into their lives. Therefore, they act the way evil people do. Malicious.
