Someone in their "wisdom" decided that. Frankly dark hair implies intelligence, but in order to keep an audience "gawking" at the news anchor and not changing the channel they created this persona that everyone should stare at rather than listen to.

Frankly when I watch those types of channels I'm thinking more "gee wonder how she gets her hair like that or what kind of eye shadow she uses" rather than listening to a word they say....but since it's about ratings they don't really care what keeps you glued so long as you are tuned in.

Frankly, I'm sure a lot of it is demographics, because I am much more likely to take seriously someone who is dark haired than blonde and I think it shows intelligence, taste and class when a station hires all kinds of people to report news.

The majority of them are not blond. Just being Blond does not make a person attractive.

There are many good looking ladies in news business. It makes sense. I do not want to sit down and watch an ugly person for half an hour !

I know very few blonde anchors. Here in louisville, we have 4 channels and only one blonde. We have a couple of brunettes and a couple of black ladies. And on national news, the only female is katie couric and she isn't really blonde. I guess Diane Sawyer counts but she is older, so anyway, not sure where all these blondes are.

Probably half are not real blondes, but it seems to be popular for some reason. The media/fashion promotes blondes as glamorous.
