My OB has been practicing for over 30 years and I completely trust him....he says for colds I could take...Sudafed, Actifed, Robitussen, Chloraseptic, Benadryl, Halls & Sucrets.
When I was 8 months, I went to buy Benadryl and the Pharmisists told me I was not allowed to take Benadryl, so I called my doc and he told me that Benadryl has been around for 30+ years and has been proven to be safe. I took Benadryl & Sudafed and my baby is perfectly healthy. Good Luck and Congrats!

Luckily I've made it through 33 weeks of this pregnancy without getting too sick. I had a slight cold about 2 months ago and my Dr. said I could take Tylenol Cold and Sinus. I personally don't like to take medications unless I am totally miserable so I didn't end up taking it, I toughed it out. My Dr. however, has been delivering babies for like 27+ years so if he said it was OK to take I would totally trust that. Good Luck nd I hope you feel better. Have you tried running hot water into your sink, putting a towel over the back of your head and letting the steam go up into your face? Thats what helped me break up my stuffy nose so that I could deal with my cold?? Try it out, it may help you too. :)

Do not take ANYTHING during pregnancy! I don't care WHAT your doctors says. If something goes wrong with your baby, NOBODY will pay but YOU and THE BABY. Even if you sue the hospital and the doctor, you will always suffer.
Try home remedies like onion juice if you have a bad cough. Cut up 1/2 an onion, dice it, cover it with sugar. After a 1/2 hour a clear liquid will come out: drink ONE tablespoon of that and you'll be fine!

If your doctor said it was acceptable, then you probably can, but follow the instructions. Medications are all right if supervised by your physician. If you are feeling that badly do what you need to do. I know tons of pregnant women who have had to take medications much more potent then the ones your doctor okay'd, and they had beautiful children.

benadryll is ok but in very small amounts. Like maybe one a day. My doctor even told me when I was having trouble sleeping that it is ok to take a benadryll or a tylenol pm but dont become dependent on them.

When I was pregnant they told me to try not to take anything and I think there was only one medication they said I could use but only once a day not every 4-6 hours like it said. I think it was actifed.

When you are pregnant...you have to be VERY careful about what you should take. Le me tell you...the doctor's don't always know...and it's been my opinion...the best person to ask is the pharmacist...he deals with medicine more than the doctor...and naturally knows more.

I was told to not take any decongestants or expectorants while pregnant as these constrict blood vessels in your body and can therefore restrict nutrients to your baby through the placenta.

Don't take anything without talking to your doctor. You don't know how each medication can affect your unborn child.
