how can i know if i'll be allergic to silver or gold or whatever, b/c my mom is allergic to silver, and she can wear silver for about 1 hour, but then her ear lobes get all red and sore and bloody. So i was just wondering if i might be allergic to anything like she is.

and also, i have a scar on the back of my left lobe (from an operation i had almost 7 years ago) Will that make the lobe harder to pierce?

well for this you should definately go to a professional pierce shop. they will knwo all fo the answers to your questions. dont go to the mall and get it done wiht a gun (they wont know anything about your history and the operation on your earlobe) they wont know if it is fine to pierce or not. they are only some cashier who just push the blut obkect through (earring) and they only use gold..

you should to to the professional pierce shop where they use needles (its just as fsat as a gun, even faster) there are alot less complications with the needle. your healing time will be alot faster (which is important) and if you have any complications wiht your piecings you can always go back and have them swith the jewelry (to a different metal if you do end up allergic to it)

professional body shop/tattoo shop is you best place to go they can look at your scar form your operation adn ecide if its safe to pierce or not. but my guess is that side may be a bit more painful (needles are also less painful than guns in the short and the long run)

they have many varitey (most places) stainless steel, white gold, titanium, gold, silver.

but going to the professional piercer is the best thing you can do if you want your ears ierced. dont be afraid of them! even though they look intimidating with all their piercings and tattoos. that are all extrememly nice and are there to make you comfortable and answer all of your questions!. email me if you have any more questions. but maybe you shodl haev your om take a look at this link jjust incase she isnt so thrilled when you ask if you can go to a professional body piercings shop. my mom wasnt thrilled either but she actually struck up a conversation with the piercer =) lol

Just get earrings made of surgical stainless steel. No one reacts to that kind of thing. If you want to find out if you're allergic to metals, all they have to do is touch your skin, like a bracelet or necklace. Your mom's ears might have been pierced odd, and it could just be the specific earrings she wears that bother her. Some people just can't wear earrings at all because they're sensitive.
Just get them pierced with surgical stainless steel, then see what happens. :)

And no, that scar shouldn't be a problem. They'll tell you if it is.

i think you should get your ears pierced. You might be allergic to silver through genes. Get gold earrings.

I think you should just get them pierced with something not fake, like gold first, and then if they get irritated you can take them out and let them close up. My ears are really random, they'll be allergic to something the first time they come in contact with it, but the second time they'll be just fine. XD Good luck!

the gold ones are better than the silver ones.
Same with me when I wear gold ones I'm perfectly fine, but if I wear the silver ones for more than a day it gets weird.

Only way is to find out, or you can just not wear silver, because I can't wear anything fake. It either has to be gold or has to be silver. Usually my style anyways. Best of luck. :D

The scar wouldn't be a problem. And if you're not sure about allergies the best thing would be to get earrings with stainless steel posts .
