I'm going to the Apple Store today, to return my defective iPod. The USB connector does not work properly, and I bought it on February 25th, 2006. If I go to the Apple Store to return it, without a receipt, which I know I can do, can I choose which iPod I would like to exchange it for, as long as the iPod I want to exchange it for is equal to the price when I purchased it? Can I pay an additional $50 to upgrade my black 2gb 1st generation iPod Nano to get an 8gb (Product) RED iPod nano? Please help.

You can return it - get store credit and buy a more expensive one if you use out of pocket money with your store credit. This is what I did.

Without a receipt you can get a store credit which means you can get whatever you want. At least that is what I did, just ask them. Surely you will be able to. Good Luck : )
