OMG...rent or buy the first two seasons...it's great.
But Izzy can't do anything right now because she fell in love with one of her patients. It's against hospital policy for the interns or any doctor for that matter to date their patients. Anyhow, Denny proposed to her and she accepted. Denny had been in and out of Grey's because he had a bad heart. He was on an L-Vac to help regulate his heart and she cut the wire to help move him up on the heart donor list. All would have been well, but Burke got shot on his way back to the hospital with the heart.
Instead of Izzy staying to face the concequences of her actions she quit. The chief was upset and so was Maranda, but as you can see she's back. That's her punishment. That's why she can't be unattended with any patients nor can she get near them....she can only observe.

The blonde girl's name is Izzy and she isn't allowed to do anything because in the previous season she was engaged to her patient, Denny. Denny needed a heart and was on the waiting list below another person. Izzy then decided if she cut one of his cords to make his condition worse that he would get the heart. Denny did get the heart and lived for a few hours and then died. So she isn't allowed to do anything due to the fact that she cut a patient's cord which caused his death.

In the second season, she killed Denny Duquett. She cut his L-Vac cord to say that he needed a heart transplant more than another patient. When the doc with the heart was on his was back, he was shot and Denny died before he ever got the heart. Izzie, then quit being a doctor. Now she has decided that she wants to come back but is on severe probabtion.

In the season right before this one. Izzy, the blonde, tried to make a patient's symptoms worst, in order for them to be top of the list for a heart. She got caught, and they can't let her do anything out of distrust. They could be sued, if she did something like that again.

Izzy is on severe probation because in an effort to help her then fiance, Denny, get a donor heart for transplant, she quite unethically, cut his L-Vac cord,that helped his heart maintain a proper rhythm, thus endangering his life while making him sicker and moving him higher up the donor list.

You're right her name is Izzy and she can't help because her last patient and man she was in love with died in her care-and according to the last updated show she's was asked to scrub for surgery... if I am not mistaken

because in the first season she cut denny's cord so she quit and when she came back she is not allowed to do anything because she is on probation one mistake she is gone
