Saban loses truth in noiseBY DAN LE BATARD
dlebatard@MiamiHerald.com
There is no gentle way to say this: The man who was coaching the Dolphins the past couple of years, the CEO at the top of a violent game, has been exposed the past couple of days as kind of a wimp.

Nick Saban does nothing better than talk, and he kept yammering like the evangelist/politician/fraud that he is Thursday to place blame on everyone but himself. The decision to go pro? It was Wayne Huizenga's fault for sweet-talking him out of the college game. The lack of improvement? It was the fault of Dave Wannstedt for leaving him a salary-cap mess. The losing? It was the fault of Ricky Williams for failing a drug test, and Ronnie Brown and Daunte Culpepper for getting hurt, and the personnel people for picking the wrong players. The decision to leave? His wife missed the atmosphere of the college game.

Nick Saban will fail. Every coach that takes the Alabama job will fail. Why? Because the only "successful" coach is a coach that is better than Paul "Bear" Bryant. Alabama is completely stuck on the Bear, and until someone is better than him (i.e. better than any active coach in any level of sports), or the figure out a way to resurrect him, Alabama will not have the same coach if more than one losing season persists.

I think he did the right thing

I think he would be alot more successful in the SEC than in the NFL
he knew that but he wanted to stay loyal and ethical
I think its unfair for the press to ask such questions while the season is still going on
like they are doing with bill parcells
durring the season the coach shouldn't even be thinking of things like that
so of course they will lie

Hopefully this works out good for anybody
I don't see why people are complaining

do u honestly think Saban could have taken the Dolpins to the Super Bowl??
itn't that the goal?

I'll say it again:
A coach is only as good as his players!! You can't get blood out of a turnip. If the players are couch potatoes who dislike being told what to do, then LEAVE THE BEAR ASLEEP! Even he couldn't get a rise out of the quality of players that are out there today. The Joe Namaths, Bart Starrs, Kenny Stablers and not much since , are over.

As for the lie, he was forced to by the press to keep from getting fired.
To repeat myself on a former question, Bill Clinton lied about Monica, but it didn't stop him from doing his job at the whitehouse well. It only affected a bunch of narrow minded people who claim to have never lied. Maybe they haven't, but you don't see their name in lights anywhere!!

If somebody offered me a ton more money, I'd quit my job. Don't think for a minute your boss wouldn't fire you if he could get somebody to do your job cheaper and/or better. There is no more loyalty from the top down, why should there be from the bottom up?

Alabama should start looking for his replacement already after he is offered another contract by Rutgers for more cash in the near future.

He did what was best for him. So he lied, so what, everybody lies and in the NFL they'll fire a coach in a heartbeat.

He played the game, and came out on top, good for him.
