Are you looking for them for the pleasure of collecting them or for an investment.
If for pleasure, who are your favorite players and teams? Start there. Make sure that it is authenticated so you are sure you have the real thing.
If for investment, it really is a crapshoot. The best players in the game will hold the most value. A rookie autograph may be bought for like 5$ today and if he becomes a star could be worth many times that in the future, but he may also fizzle out and not become a star and it would remain in the 5$ range.
There are several available at the link below. Check it out.

Steve Carlton. Autograph baseballs around $100 to $150. His certified autograph cards could be found for as little as $15.
Ryne Sandberg's autograph baseballs could go for more or less the same. His autograph cards could vary from $40-$50 and up.
If signed baseballs are out of your price range, then just go for certified autograph cards. You can find Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Reggie Jackson, Brooks Robinson, Phil Rizzuto,(Get well Scooter!)Ron Guidry, Gary Sheffield, Jason Giambi, Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey Jr., Carl Yastrzemski, Mike Schmidt, Curt Schilling, George Brett, Robin Yount, David Wright, and many other players have certified autograph cards that can be found for less than $100.
