I have had great success caring for guppies in my aquarium. I have had my pair for about two months and she has already produced three litters. If you want to stick with just two fish then there are NOT the ones for you. I reccomend about 4 to start out with, they are schooling fish. They need to be kept in a well-lit area, but not in direct sun. Any form of plant will do, artificial will be just fine, as they are not too picky. You need about 1.5 inches of gravel, make sure it is well rinsed. You can use a whisper filter, they're the type that I use. You should get at least on small rock .I'd reccomend one male and two females. Any tyes of gupies do well together. Healthy fish have no bitten tails, no white spots, are active, bright colors, and are generally lively. I have neon tetras in my tank with the guppies right now, ghost shrimp, mollies, and snails are also good companions with guppies. Tropical flake fish food is good, make sure it won't cloud the water and don't use the sinking kind. Make sure before you feed it to them you you crumble it up a bit, Guppies are easy to care for and generally don't die easily. Make sure the guppies you purchase do not come from a tank with other dead fish floating on top.

go get a book on aquariums. they should tell you all you ned to know.
yes you can mix them with neons. get both male and female.
stick with one kind to start.
rocks and caves are more for your visual enjoyment than their needs , but put them in.
flake fish food is good.
stay away from ANY fish that has white spots on it, that is ick and it will kill every fish you have in the tank if you don't treat it , which is a lot of work and doesn't always save the fish.
look for fish that have a lot of energy and are swimming and active. if the fish looks daed it will probably be so shortly.
get some books, read up onl;ine, and start out slow. have fun.
