Trust me i am just like that, i have so many earings!
I went to clairs and they had these things that are especially for earing, u just attach the earings and u wont have to keep looking for the same earings, they are perfectly visible!!
This thing comes in different colors and shapes, and they are pretty cheap, and they fit a lot of pairs.

Try a craft shop like Hobbycraft and look in the beading section. They sell all sorts of different sized and shaped boxes in clear plastic. They're designed for storing beads, so they have loads of separate compartments, and are clear, so that you can see what's where at a glance, without having to open the lid. Also, they are designed so that you can turn them upside down, drop them etc, and everything will stay in the proper compartment - the lids stay firmly shut. I have a small heart-shaped one with eight compartments, and a larger square one with about 35.

This might sound a bit 'blue peter' but try a piece of thin foam, whatever size you like (maybe try a few pieces which will fit into a drawer like the ones you can buy from Ikea, stick the earrings through the foam and lay them in the drawer(s). I've done this with a few earrings in a small box, and it's great, they don't move around and you can retrieve them easily.

try an electrcians toolbox.
it ideal because of the small compartments for screws ect and quite reasonably priced.
failing that buy a big sheet of perspex and make wall art with out earrings by putting them all through it
have seen it done before...one girl made a pattern that looked like an ear!

I have loads of earrings and I use an earring tree for mine. You don't say whether or not you have pierced ears. I also use a jewelry box with drawers on the front of it. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but hope that I have helped.

Go to Wal-Mart in the craft section and purchase a piece of plastic canvas (you can get clear or colored). You can cut two holes at the top and push through ribbon to hang it up. Put your earrings through the holes of the plastic canvas to hold them like an earring tree. One sheet should hold 50 pairs and you should be able to see them all at one time!

If you live in the UK Claires Accessories do earring holders... they are quite handy... or you could make one yourself by using a cross-stitch canvas and streching it between to posts (or something) and just put the earrings in there, they are easily seen and dont get mixed up that way.

I have all mine stuck into the side of my lampshade. I can just spin it and select a pair to wear . And the shade is very 'designer'!
I store my necklaces in the same way. Draped all over the sides, they don't get tangled.

pop down to your nearest D I Y Store carpenters section they have these nice little boxes with clear glass and small drawers you pull out, I put all my earrings in one of these and have them with different labels on each drawer so don´t have any problem finding them straight away
