yes, but it would take him so long to get a court order for you to leave that you would be gone or about to be gone by the time it comes. Just do what's right and pay the rent and don't worry about it.

Evictions are generally a long process. Landlords have to go through legal channels and it usually takes months. I don't believe the landlord has the legal right to lock you out unless he has a court order.

But having said that I think you should do the right thing and pay the rent.

no. he can charge you late fees, but to evict you he has to go through the court system to get an order of eviction and that requires at least some time and notification before it can be enforced. the wait time is usually 30 days.
but you will still owe for january.

Probably not for most landlords want a rent deposit and one month in advance. In other word, you are always paid one month in advance anyway.
