How far along should one be before doing a baby shower?

Just wondering when on average people do there baby showers 3 months, 4, 5, 6 etc? thanks

6 months or after is proper etiquette... did you know that only in north america do we have showers for the mom's and baby's before the baby is born... in europe they have a party after mom delivers :)

I just attended a shower for a girl that was 8 months...I think most are done around 6 or 7 months. I think doing them a little later on in the pregnancy is safer because generally the pregnancy is going to be okay by then and there are less chances for miscarriages, etc.
