I am so sorry for you. Your so called friends have put you in an impossible position. You can't prove that something didn't happen as easily as you can prove something that did.
They seem a little vague on the facts as well. Was it $500.00, or $700.00? If they can't be sure how much money was taken, then how can they be so sure where it was taken in the 1st place.
How are they so sure it was your husband, & not you or another member of the household?
Maybe one or the other of your accusers is responsible for the missing money, & doesn't want to own up to their spouse, so he/she shifted the blame to your husband.
It's clear that someone is LYING! Either it's your husband, or it's one or the other of your guests. Since you apparently trust your husband without question then it has to be them.
So for the price of a few dollars a long time friendship has been destroyed.
I expect that one day the truth will come out. This is a sign that the true perpetrator has a serious problem (maybe gambling), & it's going to only be a matter of time before it becomes perfectly clear who is truly responsible.
After everyone has had time to cool off, I suggest that you send your girlfriend a caring letter that says that even though you were deeply hurt by her accusations, that you want to keep the lines of communication open, & that you will be there for her when she is ready to talk. (If you think it's worth it)
I am saying this because if everything you say is true, I believe your girlfriend is going to need your emotional support sometime in the future.
Sometime life just sucks, & this is one of those times.
Your husband should be glad that he has a wife who has so much faith in him, & you should be glad that you have a man who is so worthy of that faith.
So support each other, & put this behind you where it belongs.
Cheers!

They are not your friends. Friends dont lie like that. I would ignore them and not let them back into your home. For one they said $500-$700 if any money was missing from my wallet I would know whether it was $500 or $700. Who do you have to prove your innocence to? Did they contact the police? You know you are innocent and if you have mutual friends tell them your side, thats all you can do.

You can't prove you didn't take it, and unless they have video of him taking it, they can't prove he took it. Just know that they are not truely your friends and it's over between them. maybe the husband blew the money on something and is blaming your husband as a scapegoat so he doesn't get caught. I'm sorry the friendship had to end that way.

at the end of the day these people we were not really your friends in the first place. It may be hurtful and you may feel betrayed but you will look back upon this and realise how worthless these people are.

If you have the money, send them a cashiers check for $700 along with a note saying "Thanks for the lesson, it was worth my $700. I would have never known to cut you out of my life otherwise.....When you recover your money, don't call us. Good Luck."
This won't prove innocence, nothing can, but it'll make a point.

there is nothing you can do.
you can feel betrayed but that doesn't help.
you can't prove anything.
just let the friendship go and don't help them again.
