I have no problem, leftist that I am. with anyone using the bible, quran, or the dictionary, frankly. I do have a problem with right wing, evangelicals running this country and ignoring all other religions, including the many, many moderate Christians. There are many sects of Christianity-evangelicals like Pat Robertson do not represent the best interests of our country.
I disagree no one has made an issue of the Quran-here's a few quotes-all from right wing blogs, talk radio and a Republican Congressman?
During his Newsradio 850 KOA show, host Mike Rosen falsely described U.S. Rep.-elect Keith Ellison (D-MN), the first Muslim elected to Congress, as "a follower of Louis Farrakhan."
This a quote from Goode, R, VA My letter also stated, “If American citizens don’t wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Quran.”
And this....Prager claimed in his November 28 column that Ellison "should not be allowed" to "take his oath of office ... on the bible of Islam, the Koran." Prager went on to compare Ellison's choice of the Quran to a hypothetical representative's choice of "Hitler's 'Mein Kampf,' the Nazis' bible, for his oath."

I think that even leftists do not have a problem with the stated faith of political leaders. They do have a problem, and so do I though I'm not a leftist, when those leaders attempt to legislate their religion. Big difference. Reagan, for example, was very religious, but he also took great care not to hit others over the head with it or to push amendments or laws that reflected his religious beliefs. He also never talked about how God wanted him to be President. I wish we could say the same about our current President.

Sorry Fireball, church homes are actually not non-income and the USA of a's government regularly does push Christianity, notwithstanding usually Christianity ordinarily fairly than a particular denomination. I help taxation of church homes, and perhaps i might additionally if i became a believer. Taxation could be referred to as a seal of legitimacy.

As long as he legislates from the Constitution and not the Koran, what's the problem? Some Christians on the hill very frequently promote "Christian values" openly, and have been known to denounce the letter of the law in preference to the Bible.

wake up will you?? no one bashes christians in office, until the christians in office put them on the defensive. just like we will if this ellison guy, whoever he is, does the same thing.
most of us become outraged over people trying to push faith based initiatives. if they don't, they can say whatever they want, its their voting record that matters, not their praying one.

There is no problem with a politician being a christian, muslim, buddist ect until they legislate from their bible instead of the constitution! Their god may not be mine. From what we have seen in the last 12 years, politicians god is the greenback!
