No I do not. In The Bible Jesus tells us to confess our sins to God, not a priest. Additionally, only God has the power to remove sin from us. No mortal man has the power to abdicate us from our sins.

I've only ever been to confession twice and it was only when i was at a retreat at a house of prayer with my best friend. After you did it, you felt extremely relieved. The feeling was so liberating that i began to cry even though my sins were so small. However, i don't feel that we have to necessarily go to confession. We all have our connection with God and if you're truly sorry for your sins, it is enough to pray to God about it and he will forgive you. Sometimes people feel that they don't want priests to know their bussiness and i can understand that. Many priests are not what they say they are in this corrupted world, but God knows you inside out and in a way, you don't need the blessing of a priest to tell you that you are forgiven, God forgives even if you don't attend confession. At that though, i did have a good experience with my second confession. With the first i felt a little uncomfortable, because the priest was looking me straight in the eyes and i felt i was being judged, but the second priest was Indian and he was such a lovely man. :)

Well that assumes there is a God to confess to. However, no its not necessary. If you have done something that has hurt yourself or another person, you know it, and you know what you need to do to make it better. You don't need someone to tell you that God forgives you and to say a hail mary and it will all be okay unless of course that gives you the peace of mind you require.

If you are talking about confessing to a religious leader (priest, pastor, etc.) some religions don't practice that and therefore it is not necessary. On the other hand, if you are talking about prayer, everyone who believes in God should feel obligated to confess.

I'm not sure about "Going to to Confession" but do believe that confessing our wrong doings can ease the burdon on our soul and even eradicate it if the "confession" is done properly. For confession you may not need to go anywhere but the room is within yourself. If you accept your fault then that awakening leads to a proper path and you are not likely to repeat your mistakes if the confession is done heartily of course. I think all religions believe in confessions in their own way.

confession to the relationship with God, not man is necessary. God knows me as i am and where i am. man needs time to learn and take my weakness to use against me in the courts of human law. God knows my sins, when i ask to be forgiven I am taught through the Holy Spirit how i have caused his pain. when I confess to God i develop a personal relationship. i can be open and honest and God can renew me.

no; if you are truly sorry for a sin then i do not think you need to go to confession. in my eyes, everybody has their own connection with their respectful god(s); going through a priest is unneccessary and encourages confessiong sins even if one does not regret them, which makes, in some cases, the whole thing a fallacy.

I assume you are talking about confession as in the Catholic version. I think it's the stupidest idea ever: that it doesn't matter how many sins you commit as long as you're sorry.

i agree with the answer that man cannot forgive sin .the bible teaches us to confess our sins one to another. i believe this was commanded to us because of the theraputic value of talking to others about things that bother us. it keeps us connected and gives us the advantage of hearing the wisdom that comes from the advise of others. given that, i believe a christian should seek out only a trusted friend or group of fellow believers to confess to. and of course, the confession must be presented to God,along with the belief in forgiveness. this can be done privately, or with your witnesses. if your sin was a sin committed against another- christian or not-go to that person and ask forgiveness.then ask forgiveness from God.He commands it to be done this way,not me. so- -no i dont find any scriptual text which commands a person to go to any clergy to ask them to forgive me, or to interceed in my behalf . from what i understand, all people, thats ALL people, have a direct line to God-via the Christ, to ask forgiveness. i am not in a position to judge the practices of any denomination.there are good people in all walks ,however, i cannot find any scriptural basis for going to any particular level or "rank" within the church to ask for forgiveness.

Never really. Unless it does something for you psychologically. But for me personally, not at all.
