I live in Ct...and we have a few of these upstairs. They smell horrible when you squish them...kind of a sweet smell.

dtbrantner is right on this one, it is a leaf footed bug. Often they are associated with piles of woody or leafy debris nearby. If you have say a woodpile near the house - that is where they are likely coming from. Simply cleaning up the debris, moving the woodpile further from the building, etc, might help to keep them out of the house.

Here in Michigan, they are plain ol' stink bugs, harmless, but stinky. Some says smells like a green apple when squished.

It is a leaf-footed bug (family Coreidae, order Hemiptera). They are true bugs and closely related to the assassin bugs. The give away is the flattened areas on the rear tibiae. We have them here in Oregon too.

Just another species of stink bug. Down in the south they're green.
