Leave it alone. If we destroy it. It's an act of agression on our part. The Japoanese attacked American ships at Pearl Harbour.
Then the Japanese got fire bombed and 2 nukes droped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
If we destroyed their sattelite. We could lose contact with a more sophisticated civilization and their technologies that would most likely benefit us. We would lose the oportunity to have a link to another world in another galaxy..

Destroy it. There's no good reason to let them see/hear us... how would that benefit us? I guess you could argue that the aliens could help us in our search for resources in outer space but I don't think that it would be likely at all. I believe that we have everything we need here on this planet and we need to use our brains to make up for the rest. So why mess with what or who is out there?

if we knew aliens where orbiting earth.why would we just assume they are trying to kill us? are we so afraid of the unknown that we would rather destroy it than possibly learn from it.I'm not saying that we should just let all of our guards down.but we could be a little more open minded

Why would we want to perform for their benefit? Destroy it, of course. And don't limit the destruction to alien satellites in orbit. If you should, perchance, see an alien satellite running through your country somewhere, destroy that one, too.

If we (the US) discovered such a thing, it is not likely that we (the public) would hear about it. On the other hand, when private industry takes to the skys, then they would exploit its technology. But that is just my considered opinion working for both the government and private industry.
