Science fiction author Philip K Dick ("We can remember it for you wholesale" movie "Total recall") believed himself to be possessed by an angel. In Unsolved Mysteries Past and Present by Colin wilson there was a chapter "Was Philip K. Dick Possessed by an Angel?". Dick said that during the episodes that the angel referred to his (Dick's) wife as "ms." and fixed his typewriter as well as other appliances that Dick could not. He also saw beautiful lights and patterns. None of this is proof, but it is an interesting theory. Also in Thomas B Allen's book, "Possessed: The True Story Of An Exorcism", (the story that inspired "The Exorcist") the boy who was supposed to be possessed by the devil roared when someone "impure" entered the room. When one doctor came in, the boy roared (growled, whatever). The doctor left for a while and came back. The boy was silent. The doctor had been to confession. Knowing things like that without normal ways of knowing is a supposed sign of possession. In the end of it all, during the exorcism, the boy's voice suddenly changed and said he was the angel Michael and commanded the devil to leave. Apparently, he did. There is no proof either way, but these are just ideas. ps If this sort of thing IS possible, maybe people can be possessed by spirits of nice people too. Good luck

I agree with sophist: There is no such thing as possession. If you think about it, there can't be. It would mean God is not the supreme being, others are capable of making the judgement on your soul before you ever get to judgement day. Either you are monotheistic or you are not, and if you are, possession cannot exist.

I usually agree with Sylvia Browne, she says it's not real, but I feel she may be just saying that to protect people from fear. This would be one of the few times I'd think she's done that, because I believe what she says totally and in no way do I think she's a fake. In possessions though, I personally can't find any other explanations as to why it's not true. It has to happen because priests perform exorcisms, actually, a friend of my daughters' father is a pastor and he's done one. I'd really like to call him up and ask him about it, but I don't know him well enough to do that. I firmly believe that angels don't possess people. They are there to care for and help people, even if you don't feel the help right away. And they might help you in different ways than you ask for, for your own good. Your question is fantastic. It required a lot of good thinking to answer this!
