Okay. You want to get technical, here we go....

FACTUAL
Nash is a bad defender, and a worse rebounder. And that has nothing to do with being small, as we know guys like steve francis, tony parker and jason kidd (not quite as small) all can rebound. Infact, with no hesitation atall i can honestly say that Nash is the worste defencive player in the history of MVP's. Dont belive me? find a list somwhere and check it out. The closest to him would be AI (gambles to much). And even when the nba seems to be molding into a fast pace, run and gun type of league for young guys you still need defence. Example? Even the showtime Lakers had Michael Cooper. who? some may say, well he didnt throw fancy passes or sport any snazzy (haha snazzy) goggles but he was a 2 time defencive player of the year. and the man Pat Riley once called the 'concience' of the team.

HISTORICAL

Of the only ever players to ever win mvp 3 times in a row (Wilt Chaimberlane, Larry Bird and Bill Russel) 2, Larry and Bill both had nba championships somwhere within the first two years.

*Bill won a championship with his dominant celts all three years.

*Larry won a championship within his three years also

*And although wilt did not win an nba title he made the finals each of these years. And was scoring an obscene ammount of points, enough to make it just illogical not to give him the mvp award.

Steve Nash has never won an nba title, far from it, he has never even competed in a finals series.

LOGICAL
Nash's team is doing very well, but having your team attop of the pacific devision does not necisarily make you an MVP. So many players do so much more, with so much less.

Kobe
Lebron
(even!) Dirk
Kevin garnett (not great in the W/L collumn though)

And an honerable mention should go out to Tim Duncan aswell, manu's scoring is down, bowens defence is slowly falling off, he is adjusting to a perminant roll at the C spot and with all of these things he is still putting his team on his back shooting a scortching 56% from the feild.

The logic in all of that jargon i just spat out is that there are far better players in the league, when does KG have a bad game? i mean truly bad? same with garnett and kobe.

Im exausted, great question by the way. Far better than the usuel 'whos better kobe or jordan....kobe or flash.......suprman or the flash'

!golakers! ~i get the vibe your a suns fan so that last 'golakers' bit could cost be the best answer huh?

Ok first of all I dont think any one gave a factual, historical and logical argument/reason against Nash winning a 3rd MVP.

Because

Fact:

Tom says that Nash plays bad defense but every nba MVP had flaws. Shaq won MVP and couldnt hit a freethrow if his life depended on it. So if you wanna go with Facts lets go with what Nash can do. He has been one of the bes passing MVP's with an average 11.1 the last 2 years and the suns were 29 and 53 the year before nash got there..hmmm sounds like and MVP to me. so not only did the suns win 33 more games with nas but nas took them deep into the playoffs and with 62 wins with out stoudamire and the last time that was done was 1992-1993 season wish by the way Kobe couldnt do with out Shaq! (by the way I love kobe im not hating just making a point) So that my friends are facts.

Historical:

The funny thing about this is that he talks about rings and going to the finals. But at the same time Tom mentions Kobe, Garnett and lebron. Hmmmm how funny being that garnett and lebron has not gone further in the playoffs and this year has a worse win loss record then the suns. and by the way once again the majority with out stoudamire; and Mvp is not ALL about stats. dont get me wrong it is looked at but is not the MAIN reason some one gets MVP. Real Fans know this.

Now the logic is simple. I personally am not saying that nash deserves it and im not saying he doesnt. but if you are gonna hate on the man come with the facts and dont contradict yourself, and yes garnett has had bad games but ofcourse that is rarely. But another question for you is "When does KG and minnessotta win a game?" also rarely. Once again no disrespect to garnett cuz i think he is da man. but if your team is 16-15 why the hell are you even mentioning him as MVP?? Nice try

Historical argument (for the record I think he should win the award again this year), Michael Jordan was refused a third straight MVP by Karl Malone because people don't like to see someone who can year after year dominate the game like that so the voters take it into their hands and try to oust them. Secondly, for repeat MVPs the standard gets higher and higher each year to retain MVP status. Nash is having a far better year statistics wise than he was the 2 other years he won the award with a large consensus of the vote yet people are reluctant to give it to him. They want to see someone else emerge as the star of the NBA. If Steve Nash hadn't won the award the previous 2 years and was producing the kind of numbers he is this year, he would be a run away with the awards...One guy isn't getting any attention for the award is KG...they guy gives at least 20 and 10 every night while dishing out 5 assists and contributing a couple of blocked shots but he gets no attention...he is the sole reason why the twolves are in the playoff hunt...and Randy Foye should be rookie of the year, much more versatile than Morrison who is possibly already one of the most overrated players in the league (can you tell that I'm from MN yet???)

First of all, while people are talking about how whatever team Steve Nash is on has been the best in the NBA the past two years, let me point out two things: 1)When he was with the Mavs, he was surrounded by offensive talent (Finley, Nowitzki), and with the Suns he is surrounded with offensive talent that seems like it is impossible to get (Bell, Barbosa, Marion, Amare, Diaw) and 2)When he was with the Mavs, the played just plain bad defense, and when he lef there defense kept getting better and better to what it is right now, the best defense in the NBA.Now he is with the Suns and they have a terrible defense.

As I pointed out, Nash plays horrible defense, is non-existent on the boards, hasn't had at least 1 single block this whole year, and there are much better players out there, and I can name five with almost no thought: Garnett, Nowitzki, Bryant, James, Wade just to start. Steve Nash did not deserve it last year (but I admit he did deserve it the year before) and hedoesn't deserve it this year. Take away all that talent around him and give him what Kobe, Garnett, or James has and his assists will suddenly decrease and hispoints will suddenly increase (as well as his turnovers). GO MAVS!!!!!

next year, Nash will be 34 years old, aka 1 year pass the PG curse age of 33, it has been proven again and again that 33 is the limit of good PG's. Stockton saw a decline in his game at age 33 Jason Kidd saw a decline. Nash is no different, he already has back problems this year, notice how Nash rests on his back with 4-5 minutes left in the first quarter until like 8 mintues left in the 2nd quarter. His body can't handle the stress anymore, just like Shaq, he has to admit defeat to this thing called age. Just ask the senior citizen Dikembe Mutombo.

1. Gibert Arena is a far better player than Nash is this year.

2. Nash's number reflects off of Phoenix's run and gun play no defense style of play. He gets so many extra opportunism from Marion's and Stoudemire's rebounds. He often gets 3 assists opportunities per trip down the floor.

3. If the New Jersey Nets had a better record we would be taking about Jason Kidd instead and his 6 triple-doubles on the year.

Sports analysts always bring up his stats as part of their argument. 20ppg and 10.5apg is obviously good, but the high percentages make his stats even better.

I think Nash should be considered for a 3rd MVP because he is turning basketball into a more fun sport to watch, and Nash is largely resposible for drawing more NBA viewers.
