he/she could help directly through organizations like UNICEF and world vision

unfortunately there are organizations posing on the web and even advertising on TV that are fraudulent and only serve to steal peoples money and exploit their good will

i have provided two organizations that i know are legitimate

one is UNICEF which is a body under the united nations

the other is World Vision a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide by tackling the causes of poverty.

What a great question! I'm super encouraged to hear this!

here are some suggestions:

1. You can save your money to donate to an organization helping the poor. In many African countries, a dollar goes a long way. In Sierra Leone, for instance, the average family makes about $12 a month. If you saved a few dollars from your allowance or work, you could make a big difference. In Sierra Leone, you could provide 30 meals for people with just $10!

2. I like the other suggestions of looking into different organizations like World Vision, World Relief, etc, and starting a club at your school to raise funds, collect supplies, etc, to help with their efforts in Africa. You could also sponsor a child through these same organizations with your family or friends.

3. Are you involved in a church or religious organization? If so, talk with your leaders and see what's already happening. My church's youth groups do a lot of different things to help the poor in Africa. If there's nothing happening, you could start something.

4. The One campaign has some good resources: http://www.one.org/ and so does Invisible Children: http://www.invisiblechildren.com/

Best wishes to you!!

I think you should get hooked up to one of this organizations that work against fighting poverty in Africa. If not able you can start your own sort of club with your friends and raise money and other stuff like sanitaries and get a connection with someone in africa who will be receiving the donations. You could even get some of the money from your allowance if possible

Sponsor a child on feed the children or other charities.
Find a school or community project that helps bring down food or aid, etc.

Or if your family has A LOT of money fly to Africa, and give money, and interview people.

Oh yeah, watch your wallet carefully!
