Tell you the truth I don't really know because I don't know if your gas fire place has electric start or a solenoid valve to turn on the gas. I know that if there is a valve that you can manually turn on the gas to the fireplace you should be able to light it with a standard lighter. I warn you, if you are going to start it with a lighter please light the lighter first and put it over the output for the gas and then turn on the gas so you don't have a fireball of excess gas. Anyway, I hope your power is restored soon. Good luck.

Your gas fireplace will not go out if the power fails. The fireplace goes out only if it is electric. But to play it safe get a wood burning one. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it

No it doesn't go out, it's gas powered so it will remain on.
