I see questions everyday on how to be "emo", "goth", or how someone is so "preppy". Aren't we all people? Why do people do this. Its just like oh look! Theres that emo kid over there. I bet he loves black and cuts his wrist. Don't you hate that? I also hate people that are like omg I'm emo for life and crap. You're not emo, you're a poser. I hope you know what poser means. I'm not gonna give you a definition.

People Judge because it is a necessary part of being a living being. A person has to judge whether he feels a certain person or group of pople will be harmful to him if he assosciates them. This can meen either emotionally, physically, or through influence. Would you hang out with neo-Nazis?

Labeling is necessary in order to discuss anything. There are differences between different groups that are very real even though they are all people. How would you discuss the problems in East Africa if yuo didn't have a label for Ethiopians or mujahadeen. It would make it difficult.

Stereotyping is a function of the brain and is necessary for functioning in life. A stereotype is when we believe that all things of the same kind will behave similarly. Generally this is true. All chairs will support our weight. All raqbbits are not threats th humans. All lions are. Black people behave a certain way. White people have a different way of behaving. Generally the human brain is fantastic at stereotyping effectively and will do it accurately 95% of the time. (Not real statistic, figure of speach.)

What your asking is why do people judge incorrectly, label unnecessarily, and stereotype wrong. It's called human error. It's the negative side to these otherwise very effective tools.

People do it automatically without really registering their thoughts, everyone does it, even you. An example, if you'd had a bad experience with someone named Sharon, every time you heard the name Sharon again, you'd automatically think of the bad Sharon who messed you around. You'd think negative thoughts before even meeting the person. The only time stereotypes are bad is if you've gotten to know a person and stuck with your first judgement anyway.
People look at me and they think I worship the devil, cut myself etc etc. After they get to know me they see how very wrong they were so I don't mind if their first thoughts of me were negative ones, it's perfectly natural.

Stereotyping is a way of compressing complex ideas so that the mind doesn't really have that much to deal with.

YOU KNOW I'VE ALWAYS ASKED THIS SAME QUESTION TO MYSELF I MEAN THEY AREALWAYS CRITISIZING ON PEOPLE OH BUT THEY THINK THEIR PERFECT BUT EVERYBODY ELSE IS WEIRD. FOR INSTANCE IF THEY SEE SOME ONE WEARING BLACK THEY THINK THAT PERSON IS GOTHICK. IF THEY SEE A GUY WITH A LOT OF GIRLS THEY THINK HE'S GAY IF THEY SEE A GIRL HOLDING HANDS OR WATEVR WITH ANOTHER GIRL THEY IMMEDIATLY THINK THAT PERSON IS A LESBIAN I MEAN I JUST DONT GET IT THIS PEOPLE JUST GET IN MY NERVES.
