its called the "farmer in the dale" you pick one person to be the farmer,,,,, all the other children get in a group,,,,, the farmer either points or taps on the shoulder a wife,,,, that person joins the farmer, and they dance around in a circle,,, when the song gets to the wife,, she then goes and picks,,,, that person joins the circle,,,
the song goes,
the farmer in the dale, the farmer in the dale, high ho the merry oh, the farmer in the dale, the farmer picks a wife , (he goes and picks, they come back and dance) the farmer picks a wife, high ho the merry oh, the farmer picks a wife,,,,
then you begin again, this time singing, the wife picks a child, the wife picks a child, high ho the merry oh, the wife picks a child,,,,, continue this song on down the list
child picks a dog
dog picks a cat
cat picks a,,,,,,, start down the naming of barnyard animals,,,,,, when you get to the last two children,,,,, left not picked, the last animal picks two of that thing,,,, so both children join in,
when everyone is in,,, you sing the whole song, as in the farmer picked a wife, the wife picked a child,,,,,,, etc etc, while the children dance around, ending with the high ho the merry oh
