13. And I never heard anything about the body fat. I think it is a genetic predisposition.

I started at 8. most of the women in my family started anywhere from 8-10 so we were all early starters. and in a way weight can have something to do with it in the fact that someone who is unheatlily thin will not get one and those that are extreamly athletic tend to start later as well. there is no bodyfat rule of thumb but those that are at a healthy weight are most likely to start and have a normal period, for some people healthy is 17 % for others its up to 22% it depends on build and breastmass as well

All girls vary from when they start... They can start as early as 8, and as late as 16... A lot of it has to do with genetics, so you can ask your mom at what age she started to get an idea. Also, its not your body fat, its your weight that goes into consideration... Most girls don't start untill they reach 100 pounds. The body can't afford the blood loss untill you reach that weight. I know someone who didn't start untill the summer of her sophomore year in High School, and that was when she reached that weight.

Age 10. No it has nothing to do with body fat. Trust me! It is all mother nature. When she feels its time it will happen. Now if you are older then 15 and have not started then my suggestion is to have parent take you to physician. I had problems with mine from the beginning and didnt find out till later in life that I have a disorder called PCOS Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Not a fun place to be if you ever want to have children. Thank god I have 2 children now. Something to keep in mind. Hope this helps!

I started my period when i was 10 and i was petite. I had already started growing breasts at the age of 9 so i kind of figured i would start the cycle early. Yeah sometimes your period does have to do with your body fat. Most overweight lil girls throw their hormones off wack and it causes them to grow pubic hair young and also have periods at a early age. All girls are different when it comes their bodies its really just mother nature.

I was a late bloomer; I didn't get my period until I was 14, and I stayed really skinny all through high school (even though I ate like a pig!) When I got my period, I was only about 4'10" and grew about 4 inches afterwords. Amazingly, I didn't even really have boobs until college! So, I think it just depends on the person. If you're worried about gaining a lot of weight, just educate yourself now and stick with a healthy diet.

I was 12 and weighed 58 pounds I was tiny so body fat I dont think so. It has something to do with the women in your family ask your mom and grandmom and aunt or sisters, If they were late bloomers or early starters you should probably start around the same age they did.
