I can't seem to find a serial or model number, I can only tell you it's brown in colour and has no switches, panels etc on it. It was already in our house when we moved in.
It is switched on in our electric cupboard and it does get luke warm, we tried to chage the controls but couldn't find any! Any help appreciated!

If it has no controls then it must be a bathroom model which has a preset charge controller. This is to comply with regulations which prohibit means of control for electrical appliances to be installed within the bathroom zones. The model is probably a XL6 (850 watts) or older model number. The model number is normally on a label low down on the right hand side, if not in may be under the front cover panel.

if they are the old type they have bricks fitted inside them to keep the heat in them they have no controls just a thermostat to control the temperature.might be cheaper to buy newer type of heater if it is the only one. i had them in my old house and found them coming only if it it was really cold or night time only. hope this has helped.

That's bizare - i've got one but there are two controls on it. This sounds like an old one you have, but there must be controls! Have you looked underneath it? Get in touch with the manufacturers and see if they can help.

Is your house rented? if so contact the landlord or letting agent to ask for instructions. if you have bought it you could try asking the estate agent to contact the previous owners and see if they would bekind enought o let you know how. Otherwise it could be an expensive call to an electrician.
