Well, for one, a lot of model images are digitally edited. Plus, everyone looks different, so you'll probably look different (in a good way) from the person in the picture when you match up the makeup.
I recommend going to a beauty salon to ask for great makeup tips for YOUR skin. They can also teach you how to put on makeup properly. Bring in magazine pictures you adore, but chances are you won't look the same because everyone is unique.

It really depends on which magazine, really. The in look is the natural look with color around the eyes to bring them out. Remember the eyes are the window to the soul, very important. Another important feature are the lips,if you already have picky color, use a soft peach, very in. peach color on lips can be sexy or anything really. And make sure your hair is shaped to your face and your foundation color matches and leaves no lines on the neck, this kind of grosses people out, you now. I did this without knowing, so don't be shy to ask for help from someone you trust, because first impression means a lot. It can make you or break you. Good luck in your ventures.Don't look cheap or like a clown either, not becoming.

Its true that you cant look exactly like the models in magazines.
But i can list some makeup secrets of top models:
1.To create eye depth, quickly pass your eye pencil over a flame to soften the tip for smoother application.CAUTION:Wait for the pencil point to cool before placing it against your eye.
2.Separate a tissue and gently blot all over your face after applying your make up to set and blend.
3.To open the eyes and visually slim down a nose, use a glisten or shimmer stick.Apply the stick to the inner corner of each eye and light will open up the eyes.By running the glisten stick down the center of the nose,it narrows it by bringing the attention to top of the nose, not the sides. Also, use it in the center of the lips to provide a quick pout.
4.Draw in perfect eyebrows with an eye stencil and brow gel.It will look like you've had them professionally done.

You can buy magazines that take you step by step. You can even find articles online that teach you tips to do make-up. Of course you won't look EXACTLY like a celeb because they are done by professionals, but you can teach yourself how to imitate the looks. You have to start out with knowing how to properly apply the make-up.

Have it professionaly done. In the magazines they have hours of someone doing their make-up and then afterwards imperfections are airbrushed out.
Another thing you could try is using a primer that goes on before your make-up which will make the colors stay and show stronger.

it's probably not going to happen short of hiring a makeup artist and shooting a picture through a special camera...you can go online for makeup tips-one great one is to set your makeup with a moist makeup sponge -another to use very light powder/brush to "set" your makeup...just keep experimenting/maybe with a friend...why not have a MAKEUP party-might teach/learn a few new tricks!

they have highly paid makeup artists to do their makeup, and alot of times, their pictures get fixed up by computers and airbrushed. so it`s kind of impossible to get your makeup to look like theres. you can go to sephora or a m.a.c. makeup counter and ask for a makeover, though. you`ll look great (:
