I only want to live to old age if I can maintain my independence to a fair degree, that is I can still be mobile, continent and have reasonably functioning faculties. I would not like to be like the poor people in aged care facilities who just lie in bed. There is a lady in the same room as my mother who is like this and I have to try hard to block her out of my mind otherwise I would just sit and cry. It is just too sad.
