There are two types of feminists, those that want equal rights and those that want revenge for past wrongs by men (ie - they want more rights and they believe that women are superior)
The first form of feminism I support. The second kind is just reverse discrimination and there is no place for that in civilized society. Revenge is always an empty goal and doesn't help the situation.
The language used should actually be changed. As a man I really support the first kind of feminism but I would rather call it 'humanism'. If we start using this kind of language instead then it will acknowledge that this is a male issue too and it will remind the second type of feminists that they are out of line.

Either you've had some bad luck meeting feminists, or you have a different idea than most of us do of where your rights end and ours begin.
Yeah, there are some crazies in our lot, just as there are crazies in every movement. The crazies, alas, have infiltrated everywhere. Feminists as a whole still want equal rights, and I like my men unsubjugated.
There are plenty of people who don't see the importance of things like giving teenagers decent sex ed and privacy in certain health matters, and they believe that it oversteps parental rights. There are also those that think that affirmative action is reverse discrimination. I don't agree with them, and if you are one of those people, I can see where you think the movement is going too far. I won't go into an argument about that, because I don't even know if that's what you mean. However, those are the sorts of things that aren't a sign of a movement going to far, but rather a movement's aims and reasoning not intersecting with your own.

Many feminists are nice, normal women who just want fair treatment for all women. But there are some who think they want equality but in the end just want to screw men over. The worst feminist is one who wants equal rights without equal responsibility or liability. The military is a prime example. Feminists wanted women to be able to serve in combat with men but want them excluded from the draft. I've always thought that was wrong and as a patriot I'd do my duty in a heartbeat if called. Women had better understand what being truly equal to men in society really means before demanding equality.

Feminists are interested in equal rights, but there are always extremeists who manage to poison a movement. These feminazis unfortunately hold the spotlight when it comes to female activism. It's similar to when 9\11 happened and everyone began to stereotype and become racist against middle easter people. The few that take it too far, unfortunately really believe in their altered cause and pursue it vigorously and try to attract as much attention as possible.
To answer the question directly and simply:
Feminists- Yes
Feminazis- No

Most feminists are extremests, hence the term. They believe in female power. I would love to be able to say that there are fewer feminists and more women for equal rights today than there were twenty years ago, but unfortunately this isn't true. Maybe one day we will all live in peace.
I'm a girl, and I'm proud not to be a feminist. I'm gayer than the work day is long and I'm proud not to be a feminist. I love women, but I'm no feminist. I believe in equal rights for everyone, not power candy for those who have been burned.

To answer your question, yes.
I'm sorry all of the feminist you've met are jerks.
Being a feminist just means that you believe that women should have equal rights to men.
that sounds good to me!

extremist most often always spoil a good cause, though they can be a major factor in getting said cause into the publics attention,,,,,,, no one person or genders rights should overshadow another persons's rights,,,,, perhaps you have only meet some of the feminist from when the movement was new (those may be the ones you think of as big),,,, most women today do not feel a need to put men down in order to build theirselves up !

Nope they dont care about equal rights at all no matter what they say. They do not look at the equation, they look at what men have and women dont and get that first. When they were done with it they started to look what else they can get.
