Say you're both working behind a counter, and you have customers coming up and asking questions or buying things or whatever. A customer approaches YOU and wants to check out or asks a question while looking YOU in the eye. Just as you open your mouth to speak, your co-worker suddenly takes it upon him/herself to completely butt in and start ringing them up or answering the question for you, making you look like a total dumb@ss. Then when it's all over and the customer has left and you're standing there contemplating homicide, the co-worker looks at you and says inoocently, "Oh, did I do something wrong? I was just trying to help. Sorry about that!"

Five minutes later, the same thing happens again, so you KNOW they meant to do it.

Oh No, it would be on. I know just the type of person you are talking about. The next time she starts to butt in just say in a nice tone because you are at work, just say "excuse me, but I do believe the customer was talking to me" Then go ahead and take care of the customer. Sooner or later your co-worker will catch on.

I have not, but it may be because I can be quite a bi1ch and so my co-workers wouldn't dare...they know I'd call them on it.

Maybe you should say something like, "I appreciate your help, but I am capable of doing my job." or if you want to be nice, just say "I'm really happy that your so friendly, but I can handle the customers myself. Thanks for your help though!" OR just start doing the same thing to her and when she glares at you tell her you are returning the favor, since she was so nice to help you!

If you work on commision, you should definitly talk to your supervisor about it, as that's as good as stealing money from your purse!

Some people are just plain rude. You should confront your co-worker politely, in a professional manner and if the behavior continues, discuss with it your manager. I have to warn yo, though, people like your co-worker are prone to be deeply offended by your confrontation and will more than likely give you the cold shoulder from that point on, so don't expect any future help from her, especially when he/she sees you need it.

Just reach across them to the register, mess something up and say "Now look what you made me do. Do your own work." Sounds like this co-worker will get it after 4 or 5 times.

My husband works in retail, he's the assistant manager, and his 22-year old co-workers do it to him all the time. Or interrupt with useless info just to get into the middle of it. He's had to write up a couple of them, different times. It's just rude. If your co-worker continues to do that, you should speak to management about him, unless you're management, then write him up for insubordination. Usually cools their jets, and rather quickly.

Yes. I work with a guy that thinks he has all the answers. I sit back and laugh because 9 out of 10 he is so wrong and makes himself look like a jacka*&. It's the highlight of my day.
