Yes it does,and in some cases very bad. You can't focus on what you're doing and you become very nervous. If your insomnia lasts more then 4 days,your life is in very great danger.

Absolutely! Without sleep/rest your body and mind will suffer. Your system needs that sleep for restoration, just like when someone is sick or injured they need sleep to rebuild faster and properly. That is why sleep depravation is used in torture and by police to get a confession.
