I've just come back with a PC from USA and when I tried to power it up, it king of lit up, popped and then nothing came on. I understand that USA voltage is different but I had it on 230V which is the norm for UK. The PC was working fine in the U.S. What could be wrong?

Sounds like you have blown the power supply.
If you just changed the plug on the cable and plugged it in to the a wall socket in the UK, then you would have been trying to run it on twice the voltage it was intended for. Voltage in the US is only 110volts.
It is possible that the PC is undamaged but quite likely that the power supply within it is beyond repair.

oh dear.... sounds like you done a good blowup job on the power pack I hope it did not harm the computer though,,, the power in the states is alot lower than the uk USA120 volts UK 240 volts

I would try to get a new power pack for it... take it to a shop to see if you can get one for it, that would be a good way to test it out to see if you have blown it up....

What make is it? see if you can get it repaired under the warranty
just don't tell them what actually happen though
