There is a lot of energy, because the ocean is huge. The other reason is cost. The sail a ship on wind, it would be cheaper than using a diesel motor. The problem is labor. Sailing vessels are slower, therefore takes longer to travel than diesel vessels. You have to pay a person to be on the boat. The cost of labor is greater than the fuel price. Fossil fuel has more concentrated energy, so it could be more powerful and faster, so it could hall more. % people can run a giant container ship. It takes 1,000 of sailing vessels to hall that much, and you have to pay thousands of people. Also some items are perishable, therefore sailing vessels can not hall them. Fossil fuel is reliable. Currents and wind do not move where you want it to go and are not always there to be used.

wind, waterfall have energy too. try lighting your house or cooking. to utilise energy, first you have to harness it.
