That would have to be in Houstons way way backyard...in the wooded area..hehehee on hwy 616 A place called Gonzales Resturant..that people line up at the door to get a table..I think its like between 6-11 dollars depends on what type of steak you want..with all the trimmings and Tea..
and this is in Placedo Texas..
coming in from Houston..
exiting hwy 59 south to the right going to Port Lavaca, Texas
and circling around and turn right on to hwy 87
going towards Port Lavaca Texas and Placedo is at the bridge exiting to 616 to the right..

1-361-897-1520..call them for a reservation..and see how late they stay open.. Bon Appetit

I don't know about the Austin area. But in Houston I really like Nelore Churrascaria on Montrose just south of Richmond Ave. As you can tell by the name they are not your typical American steakhouse. They are a Brazilian steakhouse. There is a set price around $30.00 to $40.00 per person and it is all you can eat. There is a salad bar that also includes hot side items like mash potatoes, rice and black beans. There guys in Gaucho (South American) outfits come around your table with the different meant son skewers and they slice off what ever you want and it keeps coming until you say stop. If you have never had Brazilian steakhouse food you are missing out!

Austin's best steak...hands down at Cool River on Parmer. Get their best steak and you'll never regret it. Its a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Take some friends as they have a great night life. Also, get the salad with their excellent ranch dressing. They give you a huge chunk of lettuce...pretty unique.

Houston's best steak by a landslide is Perry's. Don't leave w/o ordering the grilled asparagus. Sounded horrible to me too but everyone kept talking about how good it was regardless of whether you like asparagus or not. They say Perry's could make shoestrings taste good! I ate at the one west of The Woodlands near Kroger, but they should all be the same. Plan on spending 75+ for two people. You won't regret it. Dress nice and take a date. They have excellent service. My napkin got folded ever time I left the table!!!

Depends if you're truly wanting the "best Steak"... I think lots of places in Texas have Great Steak. C'mon, We're Known for it~!! But the Best Steak places that have been voted on are: Brenners Steak House (# 1 in Texas ), Capital Grill(# 2), Taste of Texas, Pappas Steak House. The first 2 are EXTREMELY PRICEY, but they definitely have Great Reputations! but hell, i also like just good ole' Salt Grass. I don't think you'll have to go too far for good steaks around here

Not sure about the Austin area, though in the Dallas area I would recommend Del Frisco's or Bob's Steak and Chop House. SS

again i would have to say seaside bistro in galveston which is only 20 mins from houston, plus a nice day at the beach, you cant get n houston, they serve steak gorgonzola and steak barcelona which are made and topped with artichoke, shrimp, and/or gorgonzola cheese, they serve escargot, fried calamari, shrimp po boys, burgers, snitzel, jagersnitzel, schaltteplatte, and a variety of seafoods like scampi, alfredo, tilapia pontachtrain, and even brunch on the weekends which involves eggs benedict, eggs novelle and sardou, and even plai ole eggs and tacos, and to be honest a very fine steak and meal for 2 will run you less than 50, great food and better prices...

The guy above me has the right idea with Brazilian steak houses. I haven't eated at the place that he recommends, but I have a Fogo de Chao (www.fogodechao.com). It is amazing. It is a little pricier than the place he mentioned (about $50 a person), but I've never had better meat. It is all you can eat with a great salad bar (though I'd skip the salads if I were you).
